Main Street recommends the Cornelius Kegging System for most homebrewing needs and uses.
Our complete kegging setup includes:
one 5 pound CO2 bottle
one double-gauge regulator
one airline with check valve
one hand tap faucet assembly
one ball-lock fully reconditioned Cornelius keg
**Due to shipping constraints, we cannot ship filled CO2 bottles. Our **mail-order keg kits** are shipped with an empty bottle of CO2, but you can easily get one filled at a gas supplier near you. If you buy a CO2 bottle in the store, we will sell them fully charged with CO2 and ready to go.
Important Info about the Main Street Kegging Set-Up
**I consider the double gauge regulator (as opposed to a single gauge) to be important because it gives you forewarning that you are about to run out of gas. Due to the nature of liquid CO2, it will not tell you exactly how much remains, but it will alert you when you are several days away from empty. (Very important in case you are about to throw a party!!)
**The check valve in the airline (which is how we sell our airlines) is also very important, as this prevents liquid (beer, soda, etc.) from working itself out of your keg and getting into your airline. This ensures you that you will never have to clean or replace you airline hosing.
**The Cornelius kegs come fully pressurized and pressure-tested, any bad gaskets or poppets have been replaced, and everything is guaranteed both by my supplier, and thus by me.
Surprise! We have just had a price drop on our kegging equipment! The cost of the equipment set-up (CO2 bottle, regulator, airline assembly and faucet assembly) by itself is $169.95. This is about $15.00 off the combined prices of the individual pieces. The Cornelius keg costs $44.95, and - as previously mentioned - they are all fully guaranteed, and pressure-tested. For walk-in customers, this brings the total cost to $214.95.
If you buy three kegs at once, the cost of each keg drops to $42.00.
For complete instructions on how to keg homebrew, please go here.
For mail-order customers: The cost of the entire set-up is $204.95 - this includes an empty CO2 bottle, as I cannot ship filled bottles. Once you receive your bottle, you will be able to fill it at any local gas supplier.
If you are interested in a Sanke kegging system, so that you can serve commercial kegs out of a home refrigerator, please see our Sanke page.
