With regard to the following beer bottle information: the EZ cap hinged bottles are identical to the Grolsch style bottles that you see in the supermarkets, except we do NOT sell green glass beer bottles. (Green glass can cause beer to become "light-struck," which is a taste defect.)
Note that we DO have clear glass EZ cap bottles, but they are usually used for liquids other than beer: vinegar, oil, liqueurs: these are all hop-free beverages. If you DO put beer into clear glass bottles, be very careful about exposing the bottle to sunlight or UV light (fluorescent); these can cause beer to become "skunky."
For every five gallon batch of beer, you will need any of the following:
fifty-five (55) 12-ounce bottles,
thirty (30) 22-ounce bottles,
forty (40) 16-ounce EZ cap bottles, or
twenty (20) 32-ounce EZ cap bottles.
Remember, you CAN re-use your own old beer bottles, just be sure that you rinse them well after drinking from them in order to prevent dried crust from developing inside of them. This simple habit can save you tons of work when it comes time to sterilize your bottles later on.....

With regard to the following wine bottle information: we are working on putting up pictures of the following shapes, but basically, the Rhine bottles are the tall, skinny, stretched ones (great for sweet wines and Reislings). The Burgundy bottles are the classic shape with the sloping shoulders (any wine will work in these, but especially Pinots and Chardonnays) and the Claret have the very round shoulders (used for big red wines, Cabernets, etc.). The shape of the bottle is historical and traditional only - it does NOT affect the ultimate flavor of the wine. Clear glass is fine if you do not store your wine in sunny locations. Each of these bottles will take a normal wine cork (which must be inserted with a corker), a tapered cork (good for short term storage, or storage of non-alcoholic beverages such as vinegar) or a T-cork.
For each five gallons of wine, you will need:
twenty-five (25) 750 ml bottles, or
fifty (50) 375 ml. bottles
