AMBER AND SCOTTISH ALES

West Coast Amber Ale: A malty-yet-hoppy perfectly balanced beer. This has lots of caramel, buttery richness from the American crystal malt (and the yeast strain), but also a nice counterpoint of bitterness and hoppiness. This is a great "first-time" beer, or a beer that works wonderfully at weddings or parties where you will be serving to a mixed crowd. PRICE: $29.00.
New Brussels Amber Ale: This is another American style Amber Ale, but it uses a Belgian form of crystal malt that has a much heartier, richer flavor. Described almost as "plum-like," or with fruity-caramel notes, this excellent variation is for those that want to savor their beer. It also uses American-style hops for a well-rounded, flavorful brew. PRICE: $30.00
Cloverhead Red Ale: A beautiful orange/red color, this beer uses Willamette hops to produce a nicely balanced beer that is less malty and more dry than most of the other beers in this category. Very little hoppy flavor, but with a nice clean bitterness, this beer uses rice extracts to lighten the heaviness, and is a beer for drinking many of on a sunny afternoon. PRICE: $31.00
Alt'ed States: A replica of the "old-style" German alt-biers that dominate in the town of Dusseldorf, Germany, this beer not only has a strong maltiness, but also a more bitter presence (imparted by the German noble hops) than do the typical American-style ambers. This is a very clean beer, with none of the fruity or buttery flavors that are found in the above three recipes. PRICE: $31.00
Loch Ness Scottish: A true-to-style Scottish, everyday, pub-style drinking beer, (this beer is NOT similar to Grant's Scottish, which is actually an American Amber). This is a rich, malty, caramel, toasty beer with very little hop presence, either in the flavor or in the bitterness. It has a malt-based aroma, and lots of malt body with a slight lingering sweetness and a just-above-threshold smokiness. A great cold-weather brew.
