The starter kits at Main Street are very complete. We do not like to sell something, only to have you realize that you need to buy more "stuff" next time because you did not get a complete kit. However, we also like to keep the price reasonable for those that do not want to invest a lot of money when initially starting out.
So, where is the best place to put extra funds, if you want to spare no costs?
You can upgrade to a floor corker for an extra $39.95.
This is one of the few higher-end items that we sell that we advocate all the time, beginners to pros. This corker is the Cadillac of corkers and will insert any cork you have with minimal effort. Our hand corkers will work fine, but require muscle power and body weight to insert the cork. This bad boy will push them in like butter. A great investment, and a great lifetime corker.
If you are planning on doing red grape wines from the field (not from Winexpert kits, but actually using whole grapes, such as Pinot noir, Cabernet, Merlot, etc.) you will need a larger primary plastic fermenter. You can upgrade your primary plastic fermenter to our 24-gallon plastic primary for only $10.00 more.

This may not be a great option if you are doing Winexpert wine kits, where it may be a little too large to comfortably ferment your kits, but for fruit wines and field grapes, it is a very nice fermenter. Note that many winemakers have fermenters of a smaller size for fruit wines and kits, and then purchase these big ones in the Fall if they decide to do a batch of red grapes.
You can add a 6.
